
Industrial visit to CONCOR, Coimbatore
An industrial visit to the Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) was organized on February 21, 2026, to provide 6 MBA- PM students and 26 MBA-LSCM Students of IMBA-Batch 2025-27 with practical exposure to logistics, containerization, and inland transportation. The visit offered valuable insights into bridging theoretical knowledge with real-time logistics operations. CONCOR, a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, specializes in container transportation and logistics services, including inland transport by rail, port management, and LCL consolidations. With its headquarters in New Delhi, the company operates a wide network of inland container depots and freight stations serving both domestic and international markets.
During the visit, students observed the logistics process comprising cargo arrival, container stuffing and sealing, customs clearance, transportation, and final delivery. They also explored facilities such as container yards with advanced handling equipment, warehousing and cold storage, customs clearance units, and security systems. The infrastructure included stacking yards, rail connectivity, and handling equipment like reach stackers and cranes.
The program highlighted supply chain management practices such as coordination among stakeholders, inventory tracking, and efficient distribution. Students also gained exposure to documentation and compliance procedures including shipping bills, invoices, packing lists, and customs clearance documents.
