Industry Visit
On March 17, 2026, students of KCT Business School visited Seshasayee Paper & Boards Ltd, Pallipalayam, Erode, to gain practical exposure to industrial operations and management practices. During the visit, students observed the complete manufacturing process, beginning with raw material collection such as bagasse, wood pulp, and recycled paper. These materials are converted into pulp through mechanical and chemical processes, cleaned, screened, and finally transformed into sheets that are pressed, dried, cut, and packaged.
The company’s operations management practices—including continuous production systems, preventive maintenance, production planning, and inventory management—were highlighted as key drivers of productivity and cost reduction. Students also gained insights into quality control measures such as GSM testing, moisture testing, thickness testing, and strength testing, which ensure high standards at every stage of production. Environmental sustainability initiatives such as water recycling, effluent treatment, waste management, and energy conservation further demonstrated the company’s commitment to responsible manufacturing.
The visit provided students with valuable learnings, including real-time exposure to manufacturing operations, the importance of teamwork and coordination, implementation of quality standards, and the role of safety and environmental practices. It offered practical knowledge of how management concepts are applied in industrial environments, enhancing their understanding of operations management and sustainable business practices.
