Dr. Sarath S., Assistant Professor, ABM
Sarath S wrote an article in the The Hindu- Businessline magazine, April 3, 2025 emphasizing the need to strengthen agribusiness education within agricultural curricula. The piece argues that Agribusiness Management is a distinct discipline that should not be conflated with economics or related fields. Citing global trends, the article points out that while agribusiness in Sub-Saharan Africa is about half the economic size of farming, it is two to three times larger in Asia and Latin America, and in some industrialized countries, it exceeds farming by more than tenfold.

In a recent op-ed for Hindu Tamil Thisai (published in April 14, 2025), Sarath S examined the impact of former U.S. President Trump’s reciprocal tariff policy on Indian agriculture. The piece highlighted India’s comparative advantage in rice exports and underscored its growing competitiveness in the global shrimp market. It also offered a comparative analysis of American and Indian farmers across various dimensions, shedding light on structural and policy-level differences between the two agricultural economies.
