National Handloom Day Celebrations at Negamam Cluster

Dr. B. Poongodi, Professor, KCT Business School, and Business Vertical In-charge, The Centre for Weavers, Kumaraguru Institutions, participated in the National Handloom Day celebrations held on 5 August 2026 at the Negamam Cluster, Pollachi.

As part of the celebrations, The Centre for Weavers, Kumaraguru Institutions, organized a live demonstration of the Low Weight Modified Jacquard for handloom Jacquard weavers. The demonstration highlighted the ergonomics and ease of use of the modified Jacquard, while Prof. A. Pavendan, Associate Dean, Textile Cluster, shared insights into the rich textile heritage of the Negamam cluster.

Around 28 handloom weavers, three Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society managers and two cotton dyers participated and benefited from the demonstration.
